Combining Health And Happiness: Adventure Trips

Combining Health And Happiness: Adventure Trips

January 4, 2021 //  by Marian Mitchell//  Leave a Comment

If there is one thing that most people like to do, it is to go on vacation! After all, there is nothing better than exploring the world and going somewhere new, is there? However, we tend to associate going on vacation with being unhealthy and gaining weight. Not all vacations are about eating junk food and lying on the beach every day, though!

When you go on vacation, you can opt for an adventure trip instead. This is a great way to explore another country and have a lot of fun in the process. Plus, it will help you to be healthier, which will make you happier as well. This does not mean you have to deprive yourself of certain foods while away either. After all, the fact that you’re being active will help you to maintain a healthy weight.

With that being said, in this blog post, we are going to take a look at some adventure vacation ideas. Skiing is an obvious option, and we will discuss that later in the post. But first, we’re going to look at some of the best activities for adventure vacations for families.

Top three activities to do on family adventure vacations

There is nothing more precious than spending some quality time with your children, as before you know it time flies by and they become adults. One of the nicest things to do with your family is to go on holiday together. If you are planning on going on a family holiday then one of the best types to opt for is adventure holidays. There are so many places around the world that offer thrilling adventure packages, these are great because it’s something all the family can enjoy together and there are often an array of events and activities to participate in, so you can opt to do whatever suits all of your tastes.

Obviously where you go on your holiday depends largely on what type of activities you are interested in participating in. Therefore, to give you a helping hand, let’s take a look at the top three activities to do on family adventure holidays…

Hot air ballooning

Taking a ride in a hot air balloon is great if you have people in your family who aren’t interested in doing anything too active on their holiday, such as sports. It’s also a fantastic idea if you have young children as it is something which all ages can participate in. Hot air ballooning will certainly provide a memorable experience and it is a great and unique way to view all of the place you have visited on your holiday.

Ride a camel

Obviously, it depends on what country you are visiting as to whether you can ride a camel, as is the case for a lot of activities you may consider when booking an adventure holiday. Camel riding is most commonly done in Arabic countries, such as Egypt. In fact, camel racing is actually the national sport of the United Arab Emirates. It is a great activity for individuals who love animals, and like hot air ballooning, it is something all ages can enjoy. Furthermore, it is an activity you can joy at little expense.

White-water rafting

White-water rafting is often considered one of the most exciting and exhilarating extreme water sports. Therefore, it’s not for any of the faint-hearted, nor is it a good activity for young children. However, if you love something that will get your adrenaline pumping then this is the thing for you. What’s great is that you all get to sit in the inflatable raft together and thus enjoy the fun together, unlike other sports that are based on a single person. In fact, the Newcastle United football squad recently had a day of white-water rafting for a birthday celebration and team bonding exercise.

These activities are assured to bring the fun factor to your family holiday while boosting your health. Remember; there are a whole host of family adventure holidays available these days and so there are an array of different activities you can participate in. Therefore, if these don’t suit your tastes then there are a whole host of other activities you can consider, such as; skiing, surfing, snorkeling, donkey riding, bungee jumping, a banana boat ride, and paragliding.

Points to consider before booking your first skiing holiday

Many people enjoy going on adventure holidays with their family or friends. They provide the perfect opportunity to get everyone together and enjoy some uninhibited fun. One of the best types of adventure holidays to go on is a skiing holiday. Skiing is an extremely popular sport and gliding down the slopes can be an extremely liberating and fun-filled experience. However, there are certain things that you should consider prior to booking your very first skiing holiday in order to ensure that you have the best vacation possible.

The first thing you need to do is ensure that your holiday is booked specifically to cater to the number of people going. Quite often, big groups of family and friends go on skiing holidays. However, not all skiing facilities cater to big groups at once and so if you do not want to get split up it is advisable that you consider this beforehand. One of the best and most popular ideas when it comes to accommodation is to go for a log cabin or a chalet or alike, so everyone can stay together and enjoy each other’s company throughout the duration of their stay. You also need to think about how many individuals can be taught to ski at the same time and in the same group in order to decipher how you will all be split up, if indeed you will be.

In addition to this, you obviously need to consider the price of the entire holiday. This is an obvious point, nevertheless with all of the equipment and other potential add-ons entailed, skiing holidays can be a lot more expensive than you may have initially imagined. Have a look at an array of skiing holidays available online in order to get an idea of the average price. Once you have done this formulate a budget of how much you can spend on your holiday, and make sure you stick to it! It is advisable to look for holiday packages whereby things such as equipment are included, thus you do not have to worry about any added expenses.

Furthermore, whilst no-one is expecting you to become a skiing champion within two weeks, it is highly advisable that you make an effort to get fitter before going away. By partaking in some exercise beforehand, you will get your body used to the physical strain and thus you will be able to last longer and enjoy skiing more. Not only do you stop yourself from becoming too tired too quickly, but you also ensure that your body doesn’t get a shock and that you are therefore not easily injured. If you really want to get a feel for what to expect from skiing then you and your friends could book a day at an indoor ski slope prior to your holiday to get in a little practice. You should also look at your diet. Try to get some more superfoods, like Maca, into your diet prior to your vacation.

The guidance and tips mentioned in this article should help you when it comes to booking a skiing holiday. But there is one last piece of advice for you too; enjoy yourself!
