5 Reasons To Drink Apple Cider Vinegar Every Day

drink apple cider vinegar

February 27, 2017 //  by Marian Mitchell//  34 Comments

Apple cider vinegar is popular in the healthy living realm. It is used to clean the house, clean the body, and support health internally. While it may seem like it is overhyped, it really isn’t. Apple cider vinegar is truly amazing. Personally, I have been drinking it every morning for years and will triple up the dose when I get sick. Today I’m going to share with you 5 reasons you should join my morning ritual and drink raw apple cider vinegar every day.

5 Reasons To Drink Apple Cider Vinegar Daily

Improves Digestion

Apple cider vinegar increases the ph in the stomach and this is a good thing! We need a highly acidic stomach to break down food effectively. When food is broken down completely we get the most nutrition out of the foods we are consuming, and are less likely to experience bloating, gas, heartburn, and constipation.

It’s Antibacterial

Apple cider vinegar is a common home remedy to tackle nail fungus, acne, and cleaning around the home. However, drinking ACV daily will also help kill harmful bacteria that enters the body, thus helping you stay healthy.

Helps Regulate Blood Sugar Levels

Studies show that consuming apple cider vinegar before a high-carb meal will improve insulin sensitivity by 19-34% and reduce fasting blood sugar by 4%. This is beneficial for everyone, not just those who are prediabetic or type 2 diabetic. No one wants a blood sugar crash an hour after eating!

Aids in Weight Loss

Along with regulating blood sugar levels, consuming apple cider vinegar before meals will actually help you feel fuller, faster. On top of that, studies show that a person will consume about 200 calories less per day. While this isn’t significant, when it comes to weight loss and maintaining weight, every little bit helps!

Lowers Cholesterol

Preliminary studies show that consuming apple cider vinegar daily may help lower triglycerides, reduce oxidation in LDL cholesterol, and possibly help lower blood pressure.

How To Take It

My favorite way to consume apple cider vinegar is in my apple cider vinegar tonic. I started drinking it this way about 6 years ago. At first, it probably won’t taste good not going to lie, but after a week or so, you won’t taste the vinegar anymore. I like to drink this first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, but some people prefer to drink it 30 minutes before every meal, or right before bed. There is no bad time of day to drink it, although, it is best to drink it on an empty stomach.

Apple Cider Vinegar Tonic

  • 1 cup warm water
  • Juice of one lemon
  • 1 tsp-1 tbsp raw honey
  • 1 tsp-1 tbsp raw apple cider vinegar (like this one)
  • 1 dash cinnamon

Drink immediately after preparing.

I’ve heard that pasteurized apple cider vinegar doesn’t give the same benefits as organic, do you know?

That’s true. Raw contains all the probiotics and enzymes while pasteurization kills all that beneficial, good stuff.

I have heard of all the benefits of apple cider vinegar but have never been brave enough to try it. Most people I know take shots of it but your tonic sounds MUCH better!

Shots burn! I think the tonic tastes so much better and it’s become part of my morning routine. I make it then sip on it while I get ready for the day.

I have heard so many good things about Apple Cider Vinegar but sadly haven’t tested it myself. I always wanted to try using a little bit to help with my weight but wasn’t sure how to use it. I heard misuse can result in severe health conditions as well. Already have my cinnamon which I love and also honey. Just to get a bottle of ACV now and put it to the test. Thanks so much for sharing this.

Very interesting! Apple cider vinegar is also low-FODMAP, which is one of my sets of food sensitivities. Do you know if it will have the same effects if I switch out the honey in your tonic for maple syrup? Honey is not low-FODMAP. Thanks!

Well honey has anti-microbial properties that maple syrup doesn’t but swapping with maple syrup will help with balancing out the flavors like honey does.

I have brought the apple cider vinegar and I only put it in the salad. I have not drink the tonic myself and as you said, I just could not stand the sour taste of it despite there are many health benefits. Honey might balance the sour flavor.

I’ve been drinking it and having it in my daily salads for the past 2 years. I couldn’t pinpoint the exact benefits since it’s been part of an entire dietary overhaul, but after researching it extensively, it can only help!
