Getting A Beaming Grin

Getting A Beaming Grin

July 9, 2019 //  by Marian Mitchell//  Leave a Comment

We smile countless times a day. Sometimes while reading a book, other times at the people we love. But sometimes we can begin to feel like out smile just isn’t what it once was. Which can be really deflating. However, there are things that you can do to make your smile that big beamer than it once was.

Getting A Beaming Grin

Eating The Right Diet

Your dentist may tell you to eat whatever you want and they’ll maintain them for you, but this just isn’t the case. Healthy, cavity-free teeth start with getting enough minerals and maintaining them with a healthy diet. For starters, a healthy diet is low in added sugar, and highly processed foods including foods with artificial coloring, artificial sweeteners, high fructose corn syrup, preservatives, and MSG. It is high in fresh produce, healthy fats like olive oil and butter, and moderate amounts of protein. Food is the foundation of good health but there are other things we can do to help maintain our beautiful smile.

Floss

There are more germs and plaque hiding behind our teeth and in between them than we like to think about. If you floss daily, you reduce the risk of tooth decay, gingivitis, and plaque build-up and tartar.

Many people don’t floss properly (or at all). So if you need a refresh then here it is:

  • Warp the floss tightly around your fingers and slide the floss between your teeth.
  • Gently slide the floss up and down against the tooth 2-3 times.
  • If you find you are bleeding, then it is most likely due to gingivitis or gum disease – it should ease up after two weeks of regular flossing – if not head to your dentist.

Straighten Up

Many people opt to have braces or browse affordable retainers online. Typically anything to do with correcting your teeth can be pretty expensive, but it is also worth it, in the long run, to make them look beautiful and feel confident smiling big.

Whitening

Tooth whitening kits are big business and rightfully so. If you choose the right product for you, you can get great results in a matter of weeks. Of course, if you skimp on the quality, then you might be causing more damage than you think. There are a few options with teeth whitening kits:

  • Toothpaste
  • Gel pens
  • Strips
  • Trays
  • Laser Whitening

Each has its own benefits and ease of use, so consider what you need and purchase accordingly. Your holistic dentist can point in the right direction for your teeth.

Toothbrush

If you are prone to buying multiple toothbrushes, rather than buying a quality one, then you might want to reconsider that investment. Excellent oral hygiene often starts with the right toothbrush. Getting one with a tongue scraper, and the correct firmness for a good brush. Getting a toothbrush that you can replace the heads on is an excellent investment, as is one that oscillates. And, while many people opt to use a hard bristle, dental professionals advise you have something softer. If you don’t want to purchase a pricey toothbrush, then just buy one with softer bristles and be less aggressive when you brush.

Regular Appointments

Having a routine cleaning every 6 months is going to help you keep your teeth in check. They will also be able to spot any other issues that can be handled. Fillings, decay, and if you need to change your current oral routine. In fact, they can also detect periodontal disease, which is links to other conditions like heart attack, stroke, obesity and more.

Water

And finally, drink plenty of water. Tap water is surprisingly the best thing to drink as it has the right levels of fluoride. It helps to flush your teeth clean and discourages decay. Which is great news! So, implement a few tips, and before you know it, you’ll have your smile back to full beam in no time.
