Don’t Let The Holidays Dictate What’s On Your Plate: Healthy Choices This Season

stay healthy this season

November 26, 2018 //  by Marian Mitchell//  Leave a Comment

Like most people, you’re probably well-aware that Christmas is nearly here, and the holiday season seems to be in full swing. There are an array of tempting treats, and for many, an excuse to sit inside and watch movies with a load of snacks. With so much to choose from, you’ll probably be craving warm comfort food, and often, it can be full of sugar and the wrong kinds of fat. The food you’re eating will help to determine how you’re feeling and functioning, and, if you’re a busy parent; energy levels are crucial to getting through the day in one piece. Therefore, why not bring some freshness into your home through your cooking and mealtimes?

Add some color to your plate!

If you’re tired of the array of beige edibles on offer, you can add color and vibrancy to your plate, and give everyone in the house something to smile about. Aside from the visual appeal; food is a great way to ensure that you’re filling up on nutrients and energy that will last longer than a quick burst of something sugary. It’s not about cutting out your sweet treats completely (a little of what you fancy will do you good), but if you start being mindful about what you’re eating, you’ll begin feeling better from the inside out. Learn how to meal plan in a time efficient way with healthy meals with my Meal Planning Made Easy Program. You get 4 weeks of meal plans with shopping lists done for you to make it easy while you learn how to meal plan around your likes. By the time the new year actually arrives; you’ll be full of beans (maybe literally) and vegetables, and ready to take on the challenges of family and work. The following are some ideas, information, and advice for busy parents who need a hit of vitamins to see them through the season ahead.

Remember, Health is Key

If you’ve been seeking out medicare doctors more often than you’d like, it could be because you’re run-down and feeling the effects of an unhealthy diet. Bright and vibrant color is often associated with the festive months, but not always with its food. Americans sure do love their white and brown food.

If you head into the grocery section of the supermarket; you’ll see color in abundance, so, it’s time to make the most of it and to stock up on brighter food. You’ll notice an abundance of orange-colored produce. Nature is providing you with the vitamin C you need to stay well all season long! The more natural, fresh, and colorful ingredients that you can add to your plate, the better; you’ll get the benefits of vitamins, fiber, and an array of other healthy properties that a bag of cookies and mac and cheese can’t offer you. It’s worth having a better understand the effects that a deficiency in fresh vegetables and vitamin C can cause so that you can avoid visiting the doctor frequently. It’s often a time where unpleasant health complications can occur more often because people head towards their cravings or sugar and carbohydrates in the wrong places. Keep thinking that fresh and colorful foods are the alternative you need.

Variety Is What We Need

Nobody is going to get excited by the same meals each day, so it’s vital that you’re not creating a salad that nobody enjoys so that food becomes a chore. You can have plenty of fun with healthy food; take a look online for some recipe ideas that will be perfect for the whole family, before you write the next shopping list. Whether you go for a warm veggie-packed curry, a simple stir-fry, or some spicy tacos; you’ll be added interest and sunshine to mealtimes so that the whole house feels better. Bring your healthy-self back, and fill up on delicious food in the meantime!
