Bacon Wrapped Figs

Bacon wrapped figs are the most amazing appetizer/snack ever. I never use to be a fan of figs but this has converted me. Many people love bacon but think it is an unhealthy food. That is not exactly the case.

Bacon, naturally raised and fed a low-to-no grain diet, is delicious and while not overly healthy, is not necessarily unhealthy either. 50% of bacon fat is monounsaturated, 40% saturated fats (which are good for you) and cholesterol (also very good for you), and the last 10% is polyunsaturated fats (omega 6 fatty acids, which can be troublesome if you also eat a lot of vegetable oils). It also contains several B vitamins, selenium, iron, magnesium, zinc and potassium. Bacon also contains a significant amount of choline, which supports our brain and might even help prevent Alzheimer’s Disease.

It is a food, I believe, healthy eaten in moderation, and enjoyed when you do.

Bacon wrapped figs are amazingly delicious, super simple and a crowd pleaser for any size get together (even if it’s just you). I used gluten free, uncured bacon and organic dried figs that had no sulfur or added sugar.
