If you are on a diet then you may know that there are some fad options out there. You cannot simply cut out food groups and then expect to be healthy from it. If you want to try and help yourself to be as healthy as possible, then you need to first find out if the diet you are on right now is too restrictive.

Bad Breath

If you find that you have bad breath, then you will know how frustrating this can be. You may feel as though nothing you do fixes the issue and that you also feel self-conscious about it. If this sounds like you then you need to try and eat more. Bad breath happens as the result of ketosis. This is when the body doesn’t have enough glucose, so stored fats are used instead. This results in a build-up of acids known as ketones. It’s these ketones which make your breath smell bad. If you eat a diet that is very low in carbohydrates, then you will be much more likely to have ketones on your breath.

Thinning Hair

Iron is used to make red blood cells. This stores your energy and it carries oxygen around the blood. If you are low in iron, then you may find that your hair thins out and that you also feel incredibly lethargic too. You can easily boost your intake of iron by eating more vegetables, but this isn’t your only option. In fact, you can also take women’s vitamins if you are concerned about having low iron levels at certain points in the month.

Constipation

If you are struggling to go, then you may think that you need to have more fiber in your diet. This is true, but most of the time you may find that you are just dehydrated. Fiber and water are required if you want to maintain regular bowel movements. The fiber will attract water, and this will help you to go much easier. You can also incorporate more wholegrain, nuts, and beans into your diet too. This will help you out far more than you realize.

Cracks in your Mouth

If you notice that your mouth is cracked in the corner, then this could well mean that you have an iron deficiency. If not, then you may have a bacterial infection. If you want to fix this then try and use some lip balm for a few days. If you don’t really see any improvement or if you suspect that things are getting worse then it is almost definitely worth seeing your GP.

Low Energy

After you eat a lot of carbohydrates, such as sugar, you may well feel sluggish and very low on energy. This is because sugar elevates the insulin in your body, and it will also make you feel less energetic. When people get it wrong, they tend to counteract the energy slump by eating more sugar. This is the last thing that you need, so you have to make sure that you try and control your blood sugar more during the day if possible.
