Welcome!

Research has shown that only 10-20% of your health outcomes are because of your doctors and medication interventions. This means that 80-90% of your health outcomes are in your hands, even with a chronic disease diagnosis!  What you eat and how you take care of yourself matters so much more than you’ve been led to believe.

Chronic Disease might seem like a general term, but it’s any diagnosis that is ongoing. This includes:

  • Autoimmune Disorders
  • Thyroid/Hormone Disorders
  • Adrenal Fatigue
  • Metabolic Disorder (High blood sugar, cholesterol, and blood pressure)
  • Chronic Kidney Stones
  • Enzyme Deficiencies (Sucrose or Fructose for example)
  • Post-SIBO Care
  • Mold Toxicity
  • Histamine Intolerance
  • Mast Cell Activation Syndrome
  • Lyme Disease
  • The list goes on

There’s a great deal of varying and often conflicting advice on how to eat for different chronic illnesses with each expert claiming their method is the only one that will alleviate your symptoms. Did you know that these diets all share the same foundational principles? Once you master these, small tweaks are all that’s needed to create the right therapeutic diet for your specific circumstances. Some changes are temporary and some need to become lifestyles.

Hi, I'm Marian Mitchell Byous!

Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, Founder of Road to Living Whole, and Host of the Therapeutic Food Solutions Podcast. I provide food and therapeutic diet solutions for those with autoimmune disease or chronic illness(es) through my Therapeutic Food Framework and Meal Plans.

When you and I work together, you will:

  • feel empowered and excited to move forward, instead of overwhelmed.
  • have a solid roadmap to follow your doctor’s orders (however vague or detailed those orders may be) with minimal effort saving you hundreds of hours researching.
  • spend your time focusing on living your amazing life versus researching down the rabbit hole to figure out what is going on and why.
  • know exactly what to eat to regain your health and how to shop for it. No more going blank at the grocery store.
  • save hundreds of dollars by not wasting any food. You will always have food on hand that supports your health goals and adheres to the protocol your doctor gave you.
  • Eat more than 4 meals and no longer suffer from food boredom.
  • have a cheerleader who understands exactly what you are going through. No more feeling alone, frustrated, and misunderstood.

I’ve Been Where You Are

Marian Mitchell Single Mom Meal PlansMy health journey first began with a desire to get off the diet rollercoaster and just get healthy. I also struggled with chronic migraines, ovarian cysts, hormonal acne, asthma that required daily medication, and psoriasis. In my effort to achieve health, I explored every dietary lifestyle out there including Clean Eating, Vegetarian, Vegan, Raw Vegan, Paleo, and Traditional Weston A. Price. During this time of exploration, my dad was diagnosed with relapsing polychondritis, I discovered I have multiple food sensitivities, and my daughter was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. I graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and through them was connected to leading experts and doctors in the field of complex chronic disease.

With firsthand experience with autoimmune disease, food sensitivities, and mold toxicity I can truly understand what you are experiencing. This knowledge allows me the ability to support you when no one else understands what is going on. Since opening my practice in 2013, I have partnered with many Naturopathic Doctors here in Arizona and all over the country. Together we have helped hundreds of patients incorporate the treatment plan into their lives. Their health soars and they are able to live the life they want.

Here’s My Approach to Coaching

On my 7-year journey to figure out how to use food to my advantage I discovered that while each therapeutic diet has its own unique approach to resolving the health issue at hand, the foundations for all of these diets are the same. This is THE game-changer.

Along with learning this, I also learned that I have a gift for creating meal plans and recipes for any type of restriction out there. Here are just a handful of what I have helped clients with:

  • Multiple food sensitivities (I’ve had clients with over 90 before!)
  • Reducing histamine or mold
  • Avoiding inflammatory foods to heal the gut (like from SIBO, SIFO, IBS, or IBD for example)
  • A lack of enzymes needed to breakdown things (like fructose or sucrose)
  • Helping to manage blood sugar dysregulation
  • Autoimmune disease (all 80+ of them)

I can help you with them all. Every Therapeutic Diet out there and beyond.

I provide meal plans with a hybrid of 1-on-1 coaching and online course to help you navigate through modifying the way you eat for your symptoms.

The 1-on-1 coaching is essential so that you are able to ask questions and get the proper guidance and support you need during this hard season.

The online course helps both of us keep all of the handouts, meal plans, and information in one spot. After years of my clients asking for handouts and meal plans over and over again because the emails got buried, I wanted to make their life easier by having them all in one place.

The goal of my coaching you is that you know how to eat right now to help manage your symptoms, give your body the nutrients it needs to heal and also teach you how to eat when you are no longer symptomatic to prevent a return of symptoms (flares). These are two very different ways of eating.

Your medication, supplements, and other therapeutics work better when diet and lifestyle are right. When this becomes effortless, (i.e. your norm), you begin to live life again.

You have to eat. I create recipes to support your health that you'll actually enjoy.

I’ve been given a gift. I can take any set of food restrictions and create recipes around them.

I love to do this because I believe that food is incredibly important. Food is so much more than calories. It’s how we connect with people. It’s connected to memories and emotions. It’s supposed to taste good! Many diets for chronic disease are complicated and have no flavor. Not here!

You will find our recipes tend to use few ingredients and rarely anything weird or something you’ll only use once. I used to be a truly horrible cook, but over the years I have gone from following recipes to a T to developing my own. I found myself frustrated with recipes requiring 20 ingredients or more and only used once then went bad before I could use them again. One time I bought ingredients for insanely delicious whoopie cookies but the recipe cost $40!! I also got tired of recipes that were bland. We all love food because it tastes good! Healthy food isn’t supposed to be boring or complex.

You will find that the recipes I share are simple, and use affordable and available ingredients. I only use ingredients you will find used over and over again. As a visual learner, I have made videos for other visual learners to show you how to make and use the fewer mainstream ingredients, (like spaghetti squash and coconut flour) making getting into the kitchen fun again.

It’s so nice to connect with you!
