Back pain is very common, especially as you get older, and if it is not dealt with in the right way, it can have a very detrimental effect on your life. Painkillers may offer short term relief, but there are some great natural remedies that are far more effective for long term relief. These are the best natural ways to manage your back pain.

Yoga

6 Affordable Ways To Improve Your HealthMany people suffer from back pain because their muscles are very tight and their spine is not aligned correctly. This is very common in people that work at a desk all day, but yoga is a great way to stretch your spine and relax the muscles in your back. These yoga poses for back pain will provide long term relief and help to improve your spine health in a big way. Regular yoga practice will also help to improve your posture, which is very important when trying to relieve back pain.

Massage

In some cases, people that spend all day sitting down and have very bad posture will develop large knots in their back and this can be incredibly painful. Yoga will get rid of these knots over time, but massage is an incredibly effective way to get short term relief. Having regular massage therapy at Advanced Health Chiropractic can help to remove knots from your back and soften the muscles. After a single session, you will notice a big difference to your back pain and it will be a lot easier to maintain good posture. Massage sessions are also very good for stress reduction, so they have mental health benefits as well.

Anti-Inflammatory Drinks

Inflammation in the muscles is another common cause of back pain, and anti-inflammatory drinks are a great natural way to relieve this. Turmeric, for example, has anti-inflammatory properties as well as anti-arthritic and anti-oxidant properties. If you mix a small half a teaspoon into a glass of warm milk and drink this each day, this will help you to manage inflammation in your back muscles. Cherry juice is another great anti-inflammatory drink that you can easily add to your diet. If you have severe back pain, you will need to use other methods as well, but these drinks can offer some relief.

Meditation

Although pain is largely physical, there is a mental element to it. The way that we perceive pain is mental and meditation can offer some relief. There are some great meditation videos for pain that you can find online, and practicing this on a daily basis can offer some relief. You will learn how to manage the mental aspects of your pain and the way that you react to pain. Many people that live with a chronic pain condition find that it has a big impact on their mental health. Meditation can help here as well because it has been proven to reduce stress and anxiety and manage feelings of depression.

If you suffer from back pain on a daily basis and you don’t want to take strong painkillers, you should try some of these effective natural methods instead.
