Six Ways To Get Through Anxiety

Six Ways To Get Through Anxiety

June 1, 2021 //  by Marian Mitchell//  Leave a Comment

Anxiety is one of the hardest things that you can deal with. If you’re prone to thoughts that are full of anxiety and worry, or you are dealing with a general feeling of being overwhelmed, you have to do what you can to get through it. Everyone goes through anxiety at some point or another, but that doesn’t mean that it’s normal to feel completely overwhelmed all of the time. Daily stressors can get you feeling a little anxious, but when these thoughts build up so that you’re feeling physical symptoms, that’s when you need to get some help.

There are many people out there who live with an anxiety disorder, but that doesn’t mean that you have to be one of them. It’s one of the most common mental health problems and while some people use Neurofeedback treatment sessions to help them through it, others prefer a holistic approach. There are six ways that you can get through anxiety and we’ve listed each of these below for you. Once you know how to get through it a little better, it can help you to feel well within yourself, too. Let’s take a look!

Identify the anxiety triggers and face them.

If you’re afraid of heights, own that fear and make sure that you can figure out the things that trigger it, too. Keep a diary of these triggers so that you can identify the feelings and thoughts that make you feel anxiety in the first place. Once you know what they are, you’ll know what to do about them.

What are you thinking about when you’re anxious?

There are specific thought distortions that occur when you’re feeling anxious, so you need to work out which these are so that you can find the relevant help. Your thought process has to be ironed out because this will help you to navigate your way out of anxiety.

Face the negative thoughts that you are having and challenge it.

There are plenty of different ways that you can view things and all you need to do is try to put logical evidence in front of you to combat those negative thoughts. Challenge them and ask yourself what you would tell a friend if they were doing the same thing.

Practice the thing you’re afraid of.

There has to be situations within your anxiety that don’t bother you, so visualize the details of the fear you’re experiencing and work through it. You can then gradually practice doing something that you fear doing. Most of the time, your fears are going to be worse than your reality and that can give you some comfort.

Sometimes, you have to be anxious to get through the anxiety in the first place.

You can get through it if you are willing to GO through it, so feel the bad and get to the other side, and that “getting there” feeling will make you feel good.

Where you can, accept your imperfections.

You are going to have slips and you will still have anxious thoughts. You can do this, so get some help!
